With increased number of wireless and mobile devices connected via the Internet, users are able to store and access data at multiple locations. The complex environment introduces a number of research challenges for security. This program will investigate security protocols for embedded wireless devices, secure routing in Wireless Sensor Networks, location based authentication, exploit wireless physical layer for security, Analysis of attacks and intrusion detection techniques in both wired and wireless networks, prevention Systems; Denial-of-Service Attacks and Countermeasures, Modeling and Analyzing Online User Behavior; Risk Assessment in Cyber Security. Software Defined Network  (SDN) is emerging as a future networking architecture for core internetworking.  Security issues and research opportunities arising out of this architecture will be investigated in this program. Further, how security mechanisms interact with content distribution mechanisms, e.g. what encryption techniques would allow a network to cache and replicate content for performance reasons, while preventing end-users from storing content for future use or replicating it for their friends will be investigated. Another important aspect of the centre would be to develop research and education capability in Internet and Network Forensics; Spam Detection and Prevention.
